SMSL D1se has ever become the favorite DAC since it was released in 2021 as its excellent objective performance. After the extremely powerful D1se DAC, SMSL announces its successor D1se2 today! With a lot of improvements based on the great sounding of D1se. No further ramble, let's see what it will bring.
Let's see the comparison between D1se and D1se2 intuitively. D1se2 adapts the brand-new SDAA architecture, supports MQA full decoding via USB/Optical/Coaxial ports as well as supports MQA-CD, while D1se MQA is only for USB. D1se2 takes ES9039MSPRO and D1se uses ES9038PRO. Unlike D1se, D1se2 supports DOP. For the USB controller, D1se2 is XU316 and D1se is XU216. D1se2 uses 11pcs OPA1614A while D1se has 3pcs only. To eliminate the clock jitter, D1se2 adds the CK-03 technology. D1se2 of THD delivers -124dB(@4Vrms) and -125dB(@5Vrms), while D1se offers -121dB(@4Vrms) and -123dB(@5Vrms).
The D1SE2 is of the VMV line-up, and this series focuses on high-end audio devices, it's a high-end flagship DAC and utilizes the ES9039MSPRO flagship DAC, and takes 3rd generation XMOS XU316 USB Controller, with 32Bit/768kHz DSD512 supported.
D1se2 adopts eight-channel parallel circuit design, while using 11 high-end dual op-amps and nichicon KG capacitors and a lot of audiophile components. In terms of the clock processing circuit, it features the new self-developed CK-03 to greatly reduce the clock jitter. Combines with built-in linear power supply with British-made NORA-TEL toroidal transformer for achieving clean background. As for Bluetooth, It uses Qualcomm's high-end chip to support LDAC(24bit/96kHz), APTX/HD, SBC, and AAC.
Coming to its exterior design, it carries over the D1se, providing smooth lines and rounded edges, all made out of premium aluminum alloy and CNC housing monoblock, crafting a clean-looking device.
